Thanks Moody

in response to my Dirty-Gypsy Proof Blog a dear friend posted sent me some handy cold weather tips.. here they are...

k so i read that post in your blog and the note in your comment on your fear of actual cold weather...well fear not my friend! I am an expert in the subject and these are my suggestions:

1.invest in hats...lots of them, and not just the cute ones that don't cover your ears, get the cute ones that are semi-functional too!

2. layers are your best friend! start with tank tops and work your way up to gargantuan sweaters...you will never regret it.

3. just because the sun is shining does NOT mean it is going to be warm out! this is a common misconception that hopefully you will never learn the hard way.

4. have multiple pairs of those cheap stretchy gloves from target...if you don't know what i'm talking about call me and i'll explain it better.

5. boots...they aren't always ugly, and you do have to have them. check out the kick ass leather ones at nordy's after the christmas ish is over.

6. wool socks...sounds lame, but your feet will love you for it.

7. get some under armour...its expensive shit but if you have a long sleave under armour on underneath anything else you will never get cold....(under armour is a brand name..should be able to buy it online) it breathes so even if you start to get hot you won't get sticky!

well those are my best tips! let me know if you need emotional support before going out into the uncharted cold territories! love ya!

Oh how I do love that girl... Thanks again Moods!!

Surgery, hospital, drugs, oh my.

Please note that this was written under the influence of heavy pain killers…

I finally had my little procedure on my stomach on Thursday, it wasn’t supposed to be any big deal, except that it would rid me of the acid reflux I’ve had since I was six. However, for some reason, I thought it wasn’t going to hurt.

SO, I went in to have the Plicator procedure on Thursday morning. They put me under general anesthesia and after I woke up, it took me a minute to realize I was in tremendous pain. It felt like a Mac truck with spiked wheels ran over my chest and I think I started crying, I was still under the influence of heavy anesthesia, but they gave me some stuff to make it not hurt so bad.

I knew before I went into this that one of the side effects was that air could creep into the chest cavity and there was a possibility that I would have to be hospitalized. However, I never really considered the fact that it would happen to me. But after several hours of me crying from the pain, they realized there was no way they could send me home on any kind of prescription medication, and that I needed to be monitored all night.

So I was admitted into the hospital, given a much nicer bed, and some nice residents right out of Grey’s Anatomy. OH YEAH, and they gave me my very own morphine pump, with my own little button to push when the pain worsened. So I stayed there until the next night, and then once I could prove to them I could manage to eat clear liquids and drink some seriously gross medication, they let me go.

I am home now and I am basically a shell of a human, and mostly useless. If anyone asks me to make a decision, I just about come to tears because it is so difficult to do, and I am defiantly not allowed to drive. Also I can’t even eat solid foods, and if an attempt to consume liquid presents itself, I can only handle about 4oz. before I am stuffed.

But YAY, no more acid reflux, and just in time for me to enjoy Spain without worrying about taking $15 worth of medication each morning. Now I just gotta manage eating mash potatoes at Christmas dinner, and be well enough to eat a Juicy Lucy before New Years.

Merry Christmas, and an Acid Reflux free New Year

Note Burning

The semester is finally over! And as a new tradition my good friends and I have taken up note burning— to rid ourselves of all the haunting homework and meticulous notes collected from the fall semester.* We figured we were actually saving tax dollar money by not recycling and instead burning.

It was all quite grand. Emily and I roasted marshmallows over burning paper and RBG while the boys drank and we discussed which notes we hated the most. I think we decided Mike’s Economics notes took the cake. By far he had the biggest stack, although collectively we did burn at least a few pounds of paper.

But it was my last real get-together in Orange with my oldest college friends and it was a fun idea that we intend on making a tradition. Afterwards Carl took me out to dinner and drove me home as I silently said goodbye to Orange for the next 6 months.

I packed up everything the next morning and now I am home busy with Christmas. I still have plenty more to do though!! And even though I am physically away from my friends I still have Emily to call me about her moral battles between whether or not to watch Gilmore Girls or go to a dance show… or something. I told her to watch Gilmore Girls… it is always the right decision. However her obsession does scare me just a bit.

<3 Feliz Navidad

*please note for all professors of classes in which the notes were burned. The act was meant to give them no offense, for it was in spite of a long, hard semester and of no disrespect to those who provided us with such valuable knowledge. <3

Emily and I are bored.

Emily and I should be writing our final press release for Writing for PR. BUT, we are lying on my bed and chatting about doing it... instead of actually doing it. Which sucks because we purposely hopped ourselves up on sugar and caffeine, and now we are coming down…. boo.

Also my room officially has been uprooted and I now reside in Hope’s little bungalow… and it's weird. It’s too real now. No me gusta.

Oh well, soon enough I’ll move my junk again, and it will be like I never left.

Emily says her stomach hurts… I can’t help but think it had something to do with the Heath bar that just disappeared… in about a minute... good job Em. Alright, I have to study for my music final and Emily needs to make herself useful in some way (that means doing something besides watching Gilmore Girls… yes Emily, I’m talking to you. Loralei and Rory are not real. But your stats final is.) Mwahhaha. Peace.

30 Days and Counting...

I now have less than a month before I take off for Spain. And I have to say, I am very excited. But as the last week of school nears its end the people around me are getting all weepy about it. I must agree that I will miss them all, but once the beginning of the school year starts back up everyone will fall back into a routine and I think we will all continue on quite well in our respective countries.

But on that note, people would like to still see me before I go and I would love to get all my friends together and have a grand farewell dinner or something. However this is finals week so everyone’s schedules conflict and I really don’t feel like planning my own going away party… because that is kind of weird.

Hopefully something will work itself out, but in the meantime I have finals to study for and a wedding cake to bake!! (long story!)

Dirty Gypsy-Proof

Recently, I have been stressing out over the minor details of my trip. Such as... how many socks, shoes, pants, toothbrushes, ect. should I bring. But most importantly I have been nervous about the outerwear necessary for this venture. I will, after all, be in Madrid, in the winter.

I don't even know what winter feels like! I live in Southern California, it is currently 65 degrees outside and I have the heater on... something tells me I might not be cut out for this!

Well, back to the point of what to bring. I finally was able to calm one of those worries yesterday when I finally found a travel bag for Europe. Basically, I needed a Gypsy-proof bag, so that I wouldn't make myself out to be easy prey.

So here it is!!! I hope the dirty gypsies with their nasty tricks won't be able to penetrate this too easily.

... and the best part... was that it was only $14! Am I good or what?

Madrid.... coming soon

I am super excited to be leaving soon, just a month and a half and… I’m off! I am sad to be leaving mi familia and amigos; however I know that I will have an amazing time, and still keep in touch with them.

Anywho, I drove to the consulate today to get my visa put into the works. I feel a little sketched out leaving my passport there and I sincerely hope that it doesn’t end up in the Wilshire and Crenshaw post office “miscellaneous” pile, and therefore make me stranded in the US with a non-refundable ticket to Madrid. But, let’s hope for the best.

Now all I have to do is find the proper accoutrements I need to travel. Any suggestions for cool stuff?
